Terse Narrative Ltd. is responsible for the personal information handled through the Sarangsho mobile application and the website www.sarangsho.com. This Policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with and what choices you have. By using Sarangsho, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information You Give Us
Account information. If you create an account, we collect your name, email address or mobile number, and any profile details you choose to add. You can read our summarised news without an account.
Order and delivery information. If you order a book or another product, we collect the recipient's name, delivery address and contact number, along with the details of the order itself.
Payment information. Payments are processed by licensed banks and mobile financial service providers through their own official gateways. We do not collect or store your card number, PIN or wallet credentials. We do keep a record of the transaction itself, such as the transaction reference, amount, date, payment method and the plan or product purchased, so that we can service your account and meet our accounting obligations.
Communications. If you contact support, submit feedback or report an error, we keep your message and our reply.
2. Information We Collect Automatically
To operate and improve the Service we collect technical and usage information, including device type and operating system, app version, approximate location derived from network information, the sections and articles you open, the time you spend reading, and diagnostic reports when something goes wrong.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above to:
- Deliver the news feed, current affairs, editorial analysis, examinations and other features.
- Create and manage your account, and give you access to any plan you have purchased.
- Process orders and arrange delivery of products.
- Answer your questions and provide support.
- Send you updates and notifications you have opted into.
- Understand how Sarangsho is used, so we can improve our content, features and performance.
- Protect the Service against fraud, abuse and unauthorised access, and comply with legal obligations.
4. Who We Share Your Information With
We do not sell or trade your personal information. We share it only in these situations:
- Courier partners. When you order a product, we give the courier the recipient's name, address and phone number, because that is what delivery requires.
- Payment providers. Banks and mobile financial service providers process your payment and confirm the transaction to us.
- Service providers. Hosting, storage, analytics, notification and customer support providers who work on our behalf under confidentiality obligations.
- Legal and corporate. Where disclosure is required by law, a court, or a competent authority, or in connection with a merger, acquisition or transfer of the business.
5. How Long We Keep Your Information
We keep account information for as long as your account is active. Transaction records are kept for the period required by applicable accounting and tax rules. Usage data is kept for as long as it is useful for the purpose it was collected for, and is then deleted or anonymised. If you close your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information except where we are required to retain it.
6. Your Choices and Rights
You may ask us to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct information that is inaccurate or out of date.
- Delete your account.
- Stop sending you marketing messages or notifications.

We apply technical and organisational measures to protect your information against unauthorised access, alteration and misuse. No system can be guaranteed completely secure, and you are responsible for keeping your own account credentials confidential.

We do not share your name, email address or phone number with advertisers. Clicking an advertisement may take you to a third party site whose privacy practices are its own.

With your permission we may send push notifications about breaking news, new content, features or updates relating to your account or orders. You can turn these off at any time in your device settings.
11. Third Party Links
Sarangsho links to external websites, including the original publishers of the news we summarise. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices. We encourage you to read their policies before engaging with them.
12. Children
Sarangsho is designed for users aged 13 and above. Some content, particularly news items, may not be suitable for younger readers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have, we will delete it promptly. A parent or guardian who believes their child has given us personal information may contact us to have it removed.
13. Users Outside Bangladesh
Sarangsho is operated from Bangladesh and our systems and service providers may be located in other countries. If you use the Service from outside Bangladesh, you understand that your information will be processed in Bangladesh and in the countries where our providers operate.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Where a change is significant we will notify you through the app or by another means you have given us. Continuing to use Sarangsho after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
15. Governing Law
This Policy is governed by the laws of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. Any dispute arising out of the use, disclosure or protection of your information shall be resolved by arbitration seated in Dhaka, conducted in Bengali or English, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions. This Policy applies to all users of Sarangsho regardless of nationality, location or place of residence.
